ESI’s Gerald Knaus was invited by the Freiburger Montagsgesellschaft, an association of politically, economically and culturally engaged citizens, to speak about his book “Welche Grenzen brauchen wir?” on the future of asylum and migration policy.

Gerald spoke about the current situation at the EU’s borders, especially in the Mediterranean, and how migrants are being pushed back by EU member states. He explained that this situation can only be resolved in a humane way by having fast and fair asylum systems, cooperation with third countries, and by establishing resettlement cooperation programmes for refugees across the globe.
